Academy Appoint Head of Coaching 5th June 20175th June 2017 Website article – Outlook Web App, light version We are delighted to announce the appointment of Gerard Jones as the Club’s new Head of Academy Coaching. Jones will be responsible for the development of the Academy coaching program and coach development program across all ages within the Academy, working with our Academy Manager and Phase Lead Coaches to enhance the efficiency of our coaching program and staff development. Jones commented: “I am incredibly proud and delighted to be joining BRFC. This is a fantastic Club with a successful and ambitious Academy program and one of the biggest factors of coming to the Club was being able to work within a solid team of innovative coaches and have the opportunity to help grow the program further”. Academy Manager Jonathan Henderson commented “After holding a rigorous recruitment process, it was clear to the panel Gerard was the outstanding candidate for the role. He brings a wealth of experience as well as an enthusiasm and personality which we felt would be a great asset to the ongoing development of the Academy” Jones is an FA UEFA ‘A’ Licensed Coach, and holds the FA Advanced Youth Award alongside being a Qualified Teacher, Master’s degree graduate in Performance Coaching and Published Author in Communication Psychology. With over 13 years coaching experience having worked in the U.K., U.S., Italy, Norway and New Zealand, Jones brings a significant amount of experience having coached and coached educated across various levels in the game. His previous roles include being a Director of Coaching in the U.S. at a Director’s Academy club, U21s Assistant Coach at Bradford City AFC, Academy Coach at Rochdale AFC and a former Director of Coaching at Arsenal FC Soccer Schools, having also been a Head Coach at semi-professional level.
