Rainbow Run

For all those taking part in the rainbow run it is getting close!!  It should be a great day helping raising funds and awareness for CHSW.  Also it will be a nice social event for the academy to meet up over the summer, we will have a meeting area on the downs so keep your eyes out for the Bristol Rovers flag.

The Bristol Downs Stoke Rd, Bristol BS9 1FG, is a protected green space so there will be no street or allocated parking available on the day. Please use public transport to get to the event, or if car sharing your nearest public car park is Clifton Down Shopping Centre, BS8 2NN. For travel information visit the Travelwest website.

Please raise awareness of our sponsorship page as much as you can over the next week:

CHSW Update

It’s just over a week until our Rainbow Run at The Downs Bristol and it’s going to be our biggest event ever, with over 2,600 of you already signed up, eager to be showered in colour! We hope you’re as excited as we are here at Charlton Farm.

This post contains lots of important information about the day. Please take five minutes to read through it all, if you have any questions please get in touch at rainbow.cf@chsw.org.uk.

Don your bright whites!

Come dressed in your brightest whites to see the kaleidoscope of colours develop throughout the run. Please ensure you wear running shoes that you do not mind getting messy. If you have light coloured hair, you may wish to protect it by either wearing a novelty shower cap, wig or hat – as fancy dress is absolutely encouraged! Please remember to bring suncream with you on the day.

Don’t forget all children aged between 5 and 15 will be given a pair of sunglasses to keep the paint away from the eyes as much as possible. Show your green or blue runner number at the sunglasses stand for your free pair. If you want to look as cool as the kids we will have adult sunglasses at £2 each, and white CHSW T-shirts for £5, for sale on the day.

On the day information

Registration for event participants opens at 11.30am, please make sure you arrive before 12.30pm.

Remember to bring your completed running number pinned on your T-shirt ready for the race start. Any participants who have lost their runner number must go to the information tent on the day.

There are no facilities to store personal belongings so please ensure that these can be safely carried with you at all times – we recommend phones are kept in a ziplock sandwich bag and that you ask friends or family to look after your bags.

There will be staggered starts on the day, depending on the colour of your runner number. Please listen carefully to instructions on the day as this is to ensure safety of our younger runners and very importantly, ensure you get enough paint on you at the paint stations!

Please note, if you are a part of a mixed age group, you should start the race with the colour of the youngest member of your team.

Don’t forget to bring a change of clothes and a towel to clean off before your journey home.

Make it a great day out!

There’s always a fantastic atmosphere in the event village for participants and spectators – this year we’re going even bigger as part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations! There will be a whole host of entertainment including music from Cadence Entertainment and we’ll be joined by the Heart Angels, Creation Twirlers, Batala Drummers and much more!

There will be delicious food to purchase from The Burger Joint and Wild4Food. The Daily Espresso will keep you filled with coffee and Lopresti ices will ensure there are plenty of 99’s to go around! So ensure you bring some pocket money!

Make sure you take photos throughout the day as we would love to see them! Tag us on Facebook and use the hashtag #CHSWRainbow on Twitter and Instagram.

We look forward to seeing you on the day!
